Another Fine Mess

I don't often enough express appreciation for my wife.   I must say that I would have been in "another fine mess," had she not taken over the organization of my move.

When we married 14 years ago,  I transported my mess to first my office and then to a storage bin.  I just threw things in boxes with no rhyme nor reason.  Now came the time to pay for my lack of organization.   The mess was transported into the office.  That on top of the already accumulated mess in the office, made me realize how impossible this move would be.

I don't ask for directions, I don't ask for help.  In other words, I can be an idiot.   She came in, saw what was ahead and has taken over.   God Bless her.   Her organizational skills are incredible.  She took an impossible task, going through a life, and made it work.  Which allowed me to finish going through 24 years of files, scanning and getting things ready for the shredders that come tomorrow.

We stay until almost midnight every night, cleaning up.  So when she said to me, on the way home that we're going to retire my Marx Brothers Statues.  Statues that have been with me for 35 years,  I immediately agreed.  So Goodnight Groucho, Chico and Harpo.

Sell them on eBay - unless they are original and in good condition - then sell them at a collectors auction.

They're going into storage. I can't part with my brothers.

Hello there, from a random stranger who shops at the same discount screen-name store as you.

Please pardon the intrusion, I happened to click my way over here from newyorkers. I very much enjoy your writing, and would like to thank you for sharing it.

No intrusion at all. Thank you. Your name comes from my favorite Groucho character.

One of my life's highlights was seeing Groucho at Carnegie Hall in 1972.

Sadly, the closest I could ever get was to listen to the record he made that night at Carnegie Hall. Still brilliant.
