God

"To you I'm an atheist; to God, I'm the Loyal Opposition."

Woody Allen

Do I believe in God. I don't know. I certainly don't believe in the God od Pat Robertson.

"I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you, This is not a message of hate -- this is a message of redemption. But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor." –Pat Robertson, on "gay days" at Disneyworld.

How about the God of the Late Jerry Falwell?

"AIDS is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals. To oppose it would be like an Israelite jumping in the Red Sea to save one of Pharaoh's charioteers ... AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals."

Now, I'm no expert, but both of thos quotes don't seem as if they came from a loving God.

Ethnocentrism, is an interesting thing. Everybody wants everybody else to convert to their religion. Why? Do you get bonus points if you get more converts? Listen to Ann Coulter on this subject:

"We just want Jews to be perfected, as they say." --arguing that it would be better if we were all Christian.

Then of course there is that religious and constitutional expert himself, George W. Bush.

"I appreciate that question because I, in the state of Texas, had heard a lot of discussion about a faith-based initiative eroding the important bridge between church and state."

There's a Bridge between Church and State? I thought that they were supposed to be separated. I guess you can call me an Agnostic. I've never met the (wo)man, so I won't definitively say if (s)he exists. I am sure that the God of Robertson, Falwell and Coulter does not exist. I think that I'll follow the advise of a great Religious scholar:

"I once wanted to become an atheist, but I gave up - they have no holidays."

I don't believe in God anymore. Or perhaps I never did. I know I tried for a long time, but I gave up. I just don't have the gene for it, I guess.

I'm mixed. I envy people who truly believe and for the right reasons. Not the hate demonstrated in the quotes.

I do, too. It must be very comforting.

I love that, not being an atheist because they have no holidays. :)

I believe in love as joy. It works for me!!

Oh, also!

What's the worst thing about being an atheist?

You don't have anyone to talk to during sex.

Could you imagine if God took that moment to answer?

God: What do you want? Every night you call me. Can't you see that I'm busy.
